James Anson, Director & Independent Financial Adviser

James has been in the Financial Services industry since 1988. He has a wealth of experience and has worked through many different financial climates.
James formed James & Associates in February 2003 after several years in the independent sector of Financial Services to provide the customer service standards he believes in. This has been rewarded with James & Associates being one of the largest established premier Financial Service adviser firms in the area.
James holds the required qualifications in the industry of Dip PFS and also the relevant Equity Release and Long Term Care qualifications.

A brief description of my background
I have worked in Financial Services for the last 22 years, I joined James & Associates in February 2020, taking over from Ralph Gale who was due to retire.
During my career I have taken several qualifications to achieve a diploma in financial services, I have recently obtained my equity release qualification and am working towards chartered status in the future.
I am a keen gardener, having started life as a qualified landscape gardener, I enjoy worldwide travel especially off the beaten track, walking and spending quality time with my family, when I can pin them all down!
What motivates me to do what you do, and how you I contribute to the customer experience
I believe in getting the advice right for the client, I feel my role as an Independent Financial Adviser enables me to provide the most appropriate advice for our clients. The industry has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, and I feel it’s essential that we continue to provide tailored financial planning.
Gemma Milton, Senior Administrator
Gemma’s role has evolved considerably since starting with the firm in 2016, coming from a client facing background. Gemma’s main role is to support James, Independent Financial Adviser and Senior Manager of the firm in an administration aspect, dealing with client cases, she manages a diverse and demanding workload, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard and providing a high level of client service.
Joanne Smyth, Office Manager/Administrator
Joanne Smyth is the Office Manager for James & Associates Financial Services Ltd. She joined the firm as Receptionist in 2018, bringing with her 11 years of administrative experience and organisational skills, from a background in accounts and payroll. Joanne’s ongoing interest in the firm has equipped her to oversee the day-to-day management of the office, assist in the development and implementation of firm policies and procedures; oversee the administration of HR policies, programs and practices within the firm; effective communications with Service Providers as required, to provide an excellent service to the adviser, and the clients.

Kate Nickels, Senior Administrator
Kate provides administrative support for James & Associates Financial Services Ltd, working alongside the financial advisers and the administration team to ensure all clients receive the best possible service. Kate works closely with Steve on a day to day basis providing support for him and his clients. Coming straight from college, Kate joined the firm in 2019, beginning her career in financial services as Receptionist. Kate’s ability to prioritise, her strong organisational skills, adaptability and good communication skills has seen her progress to her current role as Personal Assistant/Administrator.

Rosie Webber, Receptionist/Administration
Rosie is the newest member of the team, she joined the firm in June 2024. She will become known to many of our clients as a first point of contact, taking care of all reception aspects of the business. Rosie provides administrative support helping to deliver a first-class service.
